Welcome to Dun Painted Farm
We are Proud to Welcome Lindsey Laycock to the farm as our in house trainer.
Lindsey has a gentle, yet firm hand. She does a wonderful job starting young horses, getting a horse show ring ready, taking horses thru obstacles and making them a versatile ride.
My focus is managing our Lesson program, Coaching at shows, overseeing our "Littles" riding program.
Not all our clients wish to show. Showing is Always an Option, Not a requirement. Many of our riders participate in local shows, Obstacle Challenges, Jr Rodeos, local Speed Events, Drill Team, Horse Soccer and Mounted Shooting. This year some of our riders are going to venture into Working Equitation and Western Dressage plus some of the Ranch Horse Shows. And, of course our 4-H club Horses, Inc.
Lessons are offered 6 days a week and I now have Misty Smith as my Assistant who does a fabulous job with our "Littles" and helps with our Beginners.
I offer coaching at shows even if you are not a regular client.
You do not have to ride weekly, we work on your schedule & budget. I do give lots of homework for you & your horse to work on between lessons - for my Haul-In clients. And- I am just a phone call or text away.
The Philosophy here at Dun Painted Farm is to create a balanced correct rider who uses the lightest aids possible with the ability to ride a variable of horses. By riding various horses one learns to evaluate horse personalities, ways of moving & be able to adapt to each horse to get the best ride possible.
You will learn the "Less is More" and "The Fly Philosophy"
If a horse can feel a fly on its body, how much pressure does it take to respond to a cue?
When you learn to ride Quietly - no bouncing, quiet legs & hands -
horses become calmer and more willing to the rider.
This year we celebrated 42 years with horses and 35 years training for the public. It has been a great journey which has led us to work with some amazing Horseman & horses.
Haul -Ins are welcome

Thank you to all my clients & friends for being patient with me thru the loss of my oldest son. The farm is now back open and ready to go forward at Full Speed, just as Robert lived his life.
